Marvel-Works
Finished kitchen by Marvel-Works on a full home rebuild on Gardendale Drive in Houston, TX

Kitchen remodels that work the way you cook.

Cabinets, counters, tile, plumbing, electrical, paint — all of it under one roof, all of it built to one standard.

A kitchen remodel touches more trades than almost any project in your home. Cabinets need to be perfectly level for the countertop to template clean. Tile work has to be waterproofed before grout goes down. The electrician, the plumber, and the cabinet installer all have to coordinate down to the day, sometimes the hour.

That’s why we run our kitchen remodels as one project, with one Project Manager, with the trades on our crew working from the same playbook. You’re not chasing five contractors. You’re working with us.

What most kitchen remodels involve

Every line below shows up as a discrete item in your scope and quote — we don’t bundle. You see the cost of each trade and decide what stays in, what comes out.

Demolition & disposal
protected floors, dust containment, debris hauled
Custom cabinets
built to spec or installed from your choice
Countertops
quartz, granite, butcher block, or solid surface
Backsplash & tile
installed with leveling clips, no exceptions
Plumbing
sink, dishwasher, ice maker, gas line if needed
Electrical
outlets, under-cabinet lighting, fixture upgrades
Paint
walls, trim, and ceiling if scope calls for it
Final clean
done by us, not by you

Often added as separate line items: floor replacement (LVP, tile, or hardwood), structural changes (removing a load-bearing wall), appliance install, range hood vent.

Process

  1. 1

On-site visit (about 45 minutes, free)

Gabe or a senior PM walks the space with you, takes measurements, asks the questions that matter — how do you cook, where does the trash go, who's usually at the island? You'll get a written scope and an honest budget range within a few days.
  2. 2

    Design & specification

We confirm cabinet style and color, countertop material, hardware, tile, paint, and lighting. Every line item gets documented before we order anything.
  3. 3

    Demolition & rough work

Floors are protected. Dust containment goes up before tools come out. Existing cabinets, counters, and finishes come out cleanly without damage to anything that's staying.
  4. 4

    Rough-in trades

Plumbing rough-in, electrical rough-in, framing changes if applicable. Inspections handled by us if your jurisdiction requires them.
  5. 5

    Cabinet & countertop install

Cabinets installed first, leveled with a laser. Countertops are templated only after the cabinet sub verifies that every base cabinet top is level — high or low spots get fixed before the fabricator shows up.
  6. 6

    Tile & paint

Backsplash installed with tile leveling clips on every cut. Walls and trim painted. We work in natural daylight and artificial light to make sure the cut lines are clean.
  7. 7

Final trim, plumbing, and appliance hookup

Sink and faucet installed, dishwasher and ice maker plumbed, range and hood connected.
  8. 8

    Walk-through

You inspect with the PM. Anything you want adjusted gets a punch list. We don't sign off until you do.

For the technical homeowner

The quality standards our crews work to on every job — pulled directly from our internal trade documentation.

Quality standards we hold our crews to

Cabinet installation

  • Wall and base cabinets verified plumb and level with a laser, every cabinet, no exceptions
  • Adjacent cabinets screwed together through face frames for a continuous, aligned run
  • Shimmed where needed; all shims trimmed flush, no protrusions
  • Top surfaces of base cabinets verified level for countertop templating before fabricator arrives

Countertops

  • Cabinet tops verified level before templating
  • Seam placement reviewed with you before cutting
  • Final installation includes plumbing reconnection and silicone seal at backsplash

Tile & backsplash

  • Industrial polymer-modified thinset (we standardize on a single approved product across all jobs — no “what’s on the truck”)
  • Tile leveling system (clips and wedges) used on all installations — non-negotiable
  • Lippage tolerance: 1/32″ (1/16″ max for large-format tile)
  • Grout joints consistent in width
  • Pattern planned in advance to avoid thin slivers at edges and walls

Paint & finishes

  • Level 4 drywall finish minimum on painted walls (Level 5 in critical-light areas)
  • Surfaces cleaned, sanded, and primed before paint
  • Minimum 2 coats finish paint
  • Inspection in both natural daylight and artificial light before sign-off
  • Clean cut lines at ceiling, trim, and floor — no tape bleed

Sign-off

  • Project complete only when you sign off, not when we’re tired

Frequently asked questions

How long does a kitchen remodel take?
Most full kitchen remodels in our market run 6 to 8 weeks start to finish. Refresh-style projects (cabinet refinishing plus new counter and backsplash) typically run 3 to 4 weeks. Add 1-2 weeks if you're changing the floor plan or removing walls.
How much does a kitchen remodel cost in Houston?
A refresh-style kitchen runs $12,000 to $25,000. A full remodel — new cabinets, counters, tile, plumbing, electrical, paint — runs $35,000 to $85,000 in our market. High-end projects with inset cabinets, premium stone, or structural changes run $80,000 to $150,000+. We give you a real number after the on-site visit, not a marketing range.
Do you handle plumbing and electrical in-house?
Yes. Cabinets, counters, tile, plumbing, electrical, and paint all run under one Marvel-Works project manager. You're not chasing five contractors — you're working with us.
Do you pull the permits?
Yes. We handle the permit submittal and the inspection cycles end-to-end. Most cities in our service area charge $200-$600 in permit fees for a kitchen remodel. Cypress and other unincorporated parts go through Harris County instead.
Can I live in my home during the remodel?
Yes, but plan ahead. We protect floors and contain dust before tools come out, but the kitchen will be unusable for the bulk of the project. Most homeowners set up a temporary kitchenette in a garage, utility room, or spare room with the microwave, fridge, and a small prep counter.
What's the difference between a refresh and a full remodel?
A refresh keeps your existing cabinet boxes — we refinish them, install a new countertop, new backsplash, and update hardware. A full remodel replaces everything: cabinets, counters, tile, often plumbing and electrical too. Refresh is the right call when your cabinet boxes are structurally sound; full remodel is the right call when they're particleboard, water-damaged, or the layout doesn't work.
